As with the release of the RTX 30 series, we saw the shortage problem. Where the pandemic disrupted production and shipping. And along with everyone who wanted a PC now, there was a lot of demand.
However, the crypto market was also booming. So miners and then scalpers both took advantage of the situation. But recently the market has returned to normal.
With GPU prices returning to MSRP and inventory plentiful, there is hope for the next generation. We can hope there will be enough for everyone, which is what Nvidia expects as it tries to reduce its silicon order.
Release date of the RTX 4070
According to some sources, the release date is all up in the air at the moment. Initially, there was a rumor of an announcement coming early in the third quarter.
However, with the excess inventory, Nvidia will want to sell them. And so it will take more time until the next generation.
That puts the next supposed RTX 4070 release date for November 2022. Although some further suggestions say it could be pushed back to next year 2023.
RTX 4070 price
Price is one of the last things decided on a graphics card. Until the announcement there can be many variations and no actual decision.
So we look back at previous iterations to see the trend being followed. With that, we can speculate on what to expect from the 4070.
With that, we see that the RTX 3070 had an MSRP of $499. The RTX 2070 was previously launched for $499. While the GTX 1070 cost $379 and the GTX 970 cost $329.
So, with the potential for inflation and price increases, we extrapolate the costs. We expect it to be in the $499-$649 range.
